 <![CDATA[A house fire in Essex claimed the lives of two women Monday night.
Firefighters were called to the 900 block of Arncliffe Road around 7:30 p.m. for reports of a home being on fire, said Jay Ringgold, a Baltimore County Fire Department spokesman.
Police and neighbors arrived at the home before fire crews and started to knock on the door. Rescue workers then quickly entered the home and removed the women, who were 41 and 63 years old, respectively, said Ringgold.
Rescue crews were hampered slightly by clutter in the home, Ringgold said.
Both women were located on the second floor with one being in the bathroom and one found near the bathroom. One victim was taken to Franklin Square Hospital Center while the other was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in critical condition where they were declared dead, Ringgold said.

 <![CDATA[A three-alarm fire on Sunday destroyed Didi&amp;rsquo;s Pizzeria in Dundalk and damaged offices above the shop and the 7-Eleven located in the same building in the 7400 block of Holabird Avenue. &nbsp;
An employee at Didi&amp;rsquo;s suffered minor burns on his hands and 7-Eleven employees were treated by EMS, but no one was taken to the hospital, Baltimore County Fire Department Capt. Ross Cooke said.
Cooke said the department is still investigating the cause of the fire. Cooke said it is possible that the fire was fueled by gas and that BG&amp;amp;E had to cut off the gas to the building....]]>

 <![CDATA[Early in the morning Squad 523 was alerted to respond to a dwelling fire at the intersection of Mace Ave and Riverside Rd, Medic 7 (Essex) had called in this incident returning to station from a previous call, finding heavy fire and smoke through out the first floor. As other units arrived crews began making an aggressive attack. Upon arrival Squad 523, split into 2 teams, 1 team assumed the 2nd RIT team on Side C (rear) and 1 team went to work pulling siding, the soffet and extinguishing parts of the fire from the outside via a handline from Engine 7 (Essex).  <![CDATA[This weekend some of the Dive Team members attended a class put on by Diver's Den- Underwater Educators in Parkville, for Advanced Open Water Diver. This class furthers the diver's education and strengths the team as a whole by encouraging everyones progression. The class went into buoyancy control, search and rescue patterns without a tether rope and using lift bags, deep diving and boat/vehicle wreck evaluation. MRVAR would like to congratulate its 6 new certified Advanced Open Water Divers, and we hope the progression and education continues to help better the company, team and members themselves....]]>

 <![CDATA[IV526 and Squad 523 attended an event to bring attention to the rising number of missing persons in Maryland and the nation. The Maryland Task Force for the Missing and Unidentified Adults and Children put on the event held at Bazensky's Furniture in the Middle River. In attendance were local politicians, the Guardian Angels Baltimore Chapter, State and Federal Missing Person agencies and families of missing children and adults.The event is the first of many events to try and bring more attention to this growing&nbsp;problem to try and bring closure for the family. A national database has just been finished for DNA collection of missing persons and family members as well as several new memorial and publicity&nbsp;groups to&nbsp;get the&nbsp;word out to&nbsp;have the&nbsp;people be remembered and justice be given.MRVAR was proud to help support the cause and attend.  <![CDATA[Friday afternoon members and officers of MRVAR got together along with WBAL TV channel 11 to shoot a news clip about the dangers of driving in standing water during heavy rains and flooding, (link to follow), as the news clip shoot ended, the storms worsened and the dive team calls began. The Dive team traveled to Perry Hall, to Long Green, to Rosedale, to Kingsville and finally ending with the last call in Essex. The total amount of calls was 10, in about 4 and half hours, which were investigating cars in the water and swiftwater rescues. The Dive Team responded along side with Kingsville VFC's Swiftwater team, BCoFD Urban Search and Rescue-Swiftwater team and Arbutus VFC Swiftwater team. After running all afternoon and evening the crews made it back to station safely to clean up and prepare for the next storm....]]>

 <![CDATA[This evening some of the new members came together and met with the EMS Captain to complete the beginning stages of the EMS clearance process at MRVAR, becoming a 3rd out on the ambulance. A 3rd out is an assistant to the attendant on the ambulance, they can be already certified or in class to become an EMT, they help by carrying equipment, taking vital signs and assisting the attendant in general operations on the call unrelated to direct patient care. MRVAR would like to wish all its new 3rd outs luck on the beginning of their EMS future....]]>
